The inaugural “Explore The Blue – Marine Pathways” Open Day successfully welcomed students, educators and marine professionals together in Grenada to celebrate World Boating Day 2026 and inspire future careers across the Blue Economy.
Delivered through a collaboration between Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina, the Grenada Tourism Authority and Grenada Yacht Club, the event took place across both Port Louis Marina and Grenada Yacht Club on Friday 29th May, creating an engaging and interactive introduction to the world of maritime opportunities.

Several schools and colleges from across Grenada attended the event and had the opportunity to meet a broad mix of industry stakeholders. Alongside the teams from Port Louis Marina and Grenada Yacht Club, participating organisations included Island Dreams, Spice Island Marine, Sea Safety, Island Water World and Grenada Marine, representing boatyards, chandleries, marine services and wider industry support sectors.

Through hands-on activities, demonstrations and conversations with professionals, students were encouraged to explore the many career pathways available within the marine industry. The atmosphere throughout the day was energetic, curious and full of enthusiasm.

Zara Tremlett, General Manager at Port Louis Marina, commented:
“We were delighted by the turnout and the positive energy throughout the day. Seeing so many students actively engaging, asking questions and enjoying the experiences on offer was incredibly rewarding. There was so much laughter, learning and genuine curiosity.”

Zara continued:
“Supporting and engaging local youth is essential to the long-term sustainability of our industry — they are our future. The marina environment combines tourism, hospitality, technical skills and service excellence, and we wanted to demonstrate that there are opportunities for many different talents and personalities within our sector.”
Developed with an open day concept in mind, the event aimed to make the marine industry feel more visible, welcoming and accessible to local young people.

The Grenada Tourism Authority, alongside its Blue Economy education initiatives and GIZ, also played a key role in showcasing educational pathways and career opportunities. Participating students represented Lime Mennonite School, Alpha Junior School, St George’s Anglican Senior School, Beacon High School, St Joseph’s Convent St George’s, T.A. Marryshow Community College and St George’s University.

One of the highlights of the day was the Glass Bottom Boat experiences supported by GIZ, where students explored Grenada’s marine environment accompanied by marine biologists, bringing ocean education to life in a memorable and engaging way.
Participants then travelled onward to Grenada Yacht Club, where NSS Charters welcomed students aboard selected yachts and shared insights into yacht operations and life around the club.

Back at Port Louis Marina, additional activities included onboard visits to Sunsail and Dream Yacht Charter vessels, as well as dive equipment demonstrations delivered by Eco Dive. Tender rides around the marina and transfers between both venues added an extra sense of adventure and excitement.
More than an event, Explore The Blue created meaningful connections between education, industry and community, with many positive memories, new ambitions and future careers may have started on the water that day.
With many thanks to the whole team and all participants. We can not wait for next year!
